Our first meeting

In late February 2026, this group had its first meeting. Six members of the community were joined by Stu from WINACC to discuss our ideas and hopes for the project, and to plan some activities.

There were some fantastic ideas to get us started! Here are some of them.

• Bike bus between Knowle and Wickham Primary
• Bulb planting
• Climate cafe
• Community wildflower planting
• ‘Cosy’ homes club – focusing on how listed buildings can be made warmer
• Foraging in Dashwood
• Green drinks (monthly talks)
• Hearing from people in the community who have got a heat pump
• Knowle Triangle re-wilding
• Lift share app
• Local flood plan
• Repair cafe
• Running club
• Shared reusable cup for local businesses
• Tree wardens
• Wickham in Blooms’ Gardening competition

Getting families involved was considered important, and links are being made with Wickham Primary.

We also discussed how the group might run, and it was thought that a Parish Council working group would be a good option.

The plan is to have a monthly planning meeting, held alternatively in Wickham and Knowle, with activities running at regular intervals.
